Meet the group Improving Little Lives!
The Communities for Kids (C4K) initiative partners with public and private entities to support and coordinate planning for access to high-quality early care and education for all children from birth to age five. Our Ashland-Greenwood initiative focuses on partnerships with parents, providers, and community members. These collaborations allow C4K to assess community needs and implement positive changes for the youngest members of our area.
Assessing Childcare Needs in Ashland-Greenwood
To determine the childcare needs in the Ashland-Greenwood area, we utilized data from the Ashland-Greenwood Public School Census History, specifically the 2020 figures. Additionally, current kindergarten enrollment figures were analyzed to estimate the need for childcare among children aged 0-5 in our community.
• Estimated Demand: Based on the 2020 school census data, it’s estimated that approximately 290 children aged 0-5 require childcare services, considering that 75% of parents are in the labor force and need childcare.
• Current Capacity: Presently, there are 94 licensed child care slots available in the Ashland-Greenwood area, indicating a significant gap between demand and available services.
